Nestle down in your very own Victorian country house. Close the gates, pull up the drawbridge, and hunker down in luxury and comfort.
Want a country house experience with top notch foodie destinations right on the doorstep? Here it is. Wood Haven is a handsome period house with airy high ceilings, rugs on wooden boards and feature fireplaces. There’s masses of charm and character combined with 21st century comforts and indulgences.
A Sherlock Holmesy library has deep sofas and a traditional desk topped by a workstation and two monitors – so you can work (if you really have to) and still be part of the get together. The family room has sink-into sofas, Sky TV, and log burner. There’s a swish kitchen/breakfast room with all mod cons which leads to a useful boot room (perfect for muddy adventurers) and utility. Meanwhile for proper pass-the-port dinners, there’s an elegant dining room with a table that comfortably seats eight.
You’re guaranteed a good night’s slumber. Upstairs off the galleried landing are four spacious bedrooms (two kings, one twin and a double) all beautifully styled in cosseting shades of cloudy greys, woodland teals and rich blues. There’s an indulgent family bathroom with a huge bath for long soaks, two high spec shower rooms and a dressing room for glamming up.
Open Forest and picture postcard villages are just around the corner while buzzy Lyndhurst is down the road. AKA the capital of the New Forest, Lyndhurst has so many excellent tea rooms, cafes, bars and restaurants you’re tripping over them. There are also very good local stores, including an artisan bakery and a family butcher, if you want to rustle up something tasty in that fab kitchen/breakfast room. However, a couple of really good country inns are only a short Foresty walk away.
